FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to fast?
Yes, for the glucose measurement you must fast for 8 hours. HbA1c can be measured regardless of eating, but since everything is taken in a single blood draw, we recommend fasting.
What is the difference between glucose and HbA1c?
Glucose measures your current blood sugar at the time of the draw. HbA1c gives an average over the past 2 to 3 months, independent of what you ate that day.
What if I take diabetes medication?
With diabetes medication (insulin, metformin and the like), glucose and HbA1c may be lower than without treatment. Please let us know.
What if I want more specific markers?
Through Bloodworks Select you can add markers such as insulin or C-peptide.
How quickly do I receive my results?
Typically typically within 2 working days of blood draw.
