Iron Panel
A complete picture of your iron status: from stores (ferritin) to transport and saturation. Low iron is the most commonly missed cause of fatigue, this panel maps it in a single targeted test.
Iron Panel is a blood test measuring 5 biomarkers, reviewed by a doctor. Below you see exactly what is measured and what those results tell you.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to fast?
Fasting is not strictly necessary, but serum iron fluctuates during the day. We recommend testing in the morning between 8 and 10 o'clock for the most comparable result, especially for a repeat measurement.
I take iron tablets, can I still test?
Iron supplementation temporarily raises serum iron sharply. For a reliable picture of your iron stores, we advise stopping iron tablets at least 24 to 48 hours before the test. Always let us know about supplement use so our doctor can take it into account.
Why measure both ferritin and iron?
Ferritin reflects your iron stores, while serum iron, transferrin and saturation show how iron is transported. Together they give a more complete picture than a single value and help distinguish a true deficiency from an inflammatory response.
Is this the same as a test for anaemia?
This panel focuses on your iron status, the most common cause of anaemia. If you also want your red blood count (haemoglobin) measured, you can add it via Bloodworks Select or choose a broader package such as Bloodworks Plus.
How quickly do I receive my results?
Typically typically within 2 working days of blood draw. You will receive an email as soon as your personal report with doctor interpretation is ready.
