Product description
Inflammation markers and immune cells in view. This test shows whether there is inflammatory activity and how your white blood cells are distributed across the five cell types.
Immunity & Inflammation is a blood test measuring 5 biomarkers, reviewed by a doctor.
Five biomarkers. One blood draw.
All 5 biomarkers with a short description. The laboratory reference values always lead.
Immunity & Inflammation5 biomarkers | |
|---|---|
| Full blood count | Haemoglobin, MCV, red cells, platelets and white cells. |
| White cell differential | The distribution across neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils. |
| CRP | Responds within hours; points to possible inflammatory activity. |
| ESR (sedimentation rate) | Responds more slowly than CRP and stays raised longer; complements CRP. |
| Ferritin | Iron store, but also rises with inflammation. Helps interpret the result. |
With every result, your personal report includes an explanation from our doctor.

What does the white cell differential add?
The total white cell count only tells you how many there are. The differential shows how they are distributed across the five cell types. A normal total can hide an uneven distribution, and that distribution is what guides the next step.
Does this test show how strong my immune system is?
No. Immune strength is not a value that can be measured in blood. This test shows whether there are signs of inflammatory activity right now and how your white blood cells are distributed. The underlying cause does not follow automatically from it.
Do I need to fast?
Fasting is not required for this package.
What is the difference between CRP and ESR?
CRP reacts more quickly (hours) and is less dependent on age or sex. ESR reacts more slowly (days) but remains valuable for specific conditions. The combination gives a more complete picture.
What if both markers are elevated?
Elevated CRP and ESR both indicate active inflammation. Our doctor provides context with your result, and sometimes the rise is temporary, for example after an infection.
What if I take anti-inflammatory medication?
NSAIDs and corticosteroids can suppress CRP. Please let us know about your medication so we can take this into account.
Does exercise affect my values?
Intensive physical exercise can temporarily raise CRP and ESR. Avoid extreme exertion for 24-48 hours before the measurement.
How often should I have this measured?
A single measurement is sufficient for initial insight. For follow-up or with chronic conditions, periodic measurement may be worthwhile.
What if I want more specific markers?
Through Bloodworks Select you can add markers such as immunoglobulins, complement, or specific autoantibodies.
How quickly do I receive my results?
Typically within 2 working days of blood draw.
